Bubbles in my head is my blog attempt to revitalize the love of the written word in mass culture. The love I possess for writing comes from my mother who thought me the magnificent art of calligraphy as a child so I could send my friends pretty letters (we never stayed in an area for very long so I lost many friends). Although hard, calligraphy made me feel like some princess writing letters and sealing them with wax (I'd usually dress up too and pretend I have a court or something but that's another story). Perhaps, calligraphy was the seed that blossomed my imagination and desire to write. My mother, an avid reader herself, also infused in me the love of reading by sitting by my bed every night and reading me a book. Later, when I was older, she also set up a mandatory reading period, where I would read my own books that we had picked from the library that week.
My passion for poetry came much later in college where I met with an exceptional teacher whose profound open-mind blessed me with different aspects of the literary world. She enjoyed teaching all ins and outs of poetry and encouraged me vividly to write. I owe her so much because poetry filled a part of my soul that seemed empty and lonely.
Due to the lack of quality information on the web about the various great authors of this and past world, I decided to post on this blog the knowledge I obtained in my many university classes on English Literature and writing classes in hopes to promote poetry and fiction as a fun and interesting subject.
